My doctor asked me ‘Did I take the Stress Test‘?? I said yes “LIFE”.
“I am always doing things I can’t do. That is how I get to do them.” -Pablo Picasso
We all are stressed, we all know its enormously injurious to our health. We have to make unending and continuous efforts to come out of this disease called ‘stress’.
“The consequences of today are determined by the actions of the past. To change your future, alter your decisions today.” ~ Unknown
Here I bring a plate of 10 ideas I have learnt and practiced, to make my life worth a memory and to KILL stress. Why don’t you taste these 10 ingredients and live better.
1. Today is a ‘NEW Day’!!
Forget what happened yesterday, today is a new day. You may have had differences with someone in past, or something bad happened to you, leave it there in the past. Look at your calendar it says a new date every day and that means today is a new day. Make the most of it.
2. Skip the 1st page of your Newspaper.
Most of us are habituated to reading the newspaper at the start of the day. So when you pick your paper start reading it from the second page. It has been observed that the 1st page generally contains negative news and we absolutely don’t want a negative start. Once you finish reading the newspaper you can always just brush through the first page. Try maximum positivism during the start of the day.
3. Plan your day.
Planning helps you do your job in a systematic manner, you can prioritise your work and you will most likely not miss on any deadlines. Here I don’t mean you have to maintain a diary or a to-do list. You can simply make mental notes of things you have to do today. If you do not plan your day, you might end up doing things that can be done later and might forget what is to be done NOW. Don’t watch the clock, do what it does. Keep Going – Sam Levenson
4. Do little Physical Activities, at least ONE
When we say we should go for walk or do yoga etc., somewhere we get up in the morning, press the snooze button and go back to sleep. When you get up do a little stretching for about 10 minutes. Walk to your parking or your conveyance. You can also do walk the talk at office. Not all meetings require a paper and pen some are only discussions and you can simply talk keep walking. Use the stairs most of the times over elevators and accelerators. Remember the childhood game, tap the rope? or in layman language ‘skipping the rope’. Doing that for 50 counts too burns a lot of calories just being indoor.
5. Smile 🙂
Some days are gloomy days.. I can understand..As we grow sometimes we ponder on the last time we actually smiled.
But is smile going to cost us anything? The answer is NO.
So give a smile to your family, friend, colleagues and even acquaintances. It will help you feel good and when they smile back you feel even better. Smiling contracts your muscles so it’s a nice facial exercise too. For those of you who have dimples smiling is even better. You guys make me jealous 😀
Don’t cry for a man who’s left you, the next one may fall for your SMILE
6. Don’t Procrastinate.
If you have decided to do something, then do it just NOW. Procrastination will make things worse and ultimately you may never do the thing you thought of. Time doesn’t wait for anyone. Waiting for the right time may not always help.
7. Write a Note to Yourself.
Yes it seems a little weird but write a note to yourself daily. Tell yourself what you did today, what you think was good and what went bad, you probably may have regrets of some action or better ways to do something in a particular situation, write it all down.
- What happens with this exercise is that you have written everything heartfelt so you poured all your heart out and the venting is done.
- It will make you feel that you have shared this thing with somebody. What you actually did was to tell yourself the truth, you are your own best friend here.
- This is what I feel most of the times when I read my notes after ages, I laugh my heart out that I did something so stupid or that was the day something good happened and I forgot about it.
Life is and has been beautiful but we fail to appreciate. Notes would be a written evidence here that Things were and are good too.
8. Read a Good Book.
Reading a good book is like making an investment. It’s going to appreciate and be with you forever. Books are your loyal friends. Over a period it will give you a good vocabulary and reading speed. Reading gives you wings, it lets your imaginations fly and will help you grow better.
9. Do Something New Every day.
Take up something new every day. For instance, You can learn a new word of a foreign language every day, paint, do new forms of exercises, learn something that you want always wanted to do. Options are unlimited. Time is less, even lesser when it comes to your ‘Own’ wishes, make yourself happy, do not depend on others to make you feel better.
10. Say Thank You!!
Saying thank you is acknowledging that what you received was indeed good. Say thank you to your cabbies, I am sure his next ride will be good. Say thank you to your mother for the lovely food she cooks, trust me tomorrow she will cook all your favorite stuff. Say thank you to your friends, they will know how much they mean to you. Lastly, Thank God before you go to bed for giving you a wonderful day.
