It’s been a month since the highest rated journalist of all times Arnab Goswami left Times Now as editor-in-chief (November 1, 2016) and now he has announced that his new channel will be called ‘Republic’, speculated to air in 26th of January, 2017.
Arnab told The Quint, “My venture is called ‘Republic’; I seek the support of the people of India.” In his farewell speeches to employees at Times Now that went viral in matter of minutes, he had even teased that he has been planning his intrest into independent media. “Independent media is going to thrive. The game has just begun,” were his words. He addes that he is looking to give “formidable competition to BBC and CNN.”
Arnab Goswami started his career in The Telegraph in Kolkata which was for a stint less than a year. He hosted one of the channel’s top rated news analysis show The Newshour, which won him an award for the Best News Anchor of Asia 2004 in the 2004 Asian Television Awards.
